Frequently asked questions
The app didn't find a face in my photo
Detection works best when the face is reasonably large, facing the camera and not heavily obscured. Profiles, distant faces, motion blur and masks can all defeat it. Switch to the Object or Blur tool and paint over the face by hand โ that always works, and you can zoom in first for precision.
Background blur picked the wrong subject
Subject detection looks for the most prominent foreground subject, so a busy photo can confuse it. Use the invert button to swap which side is blurred, then use the refine brush to add or erase parts of the mask until the edge is right.
My brush strokes look offset from the photo
Strokes are stored relative to the photo itself, not the screen, so zooming, panning or rotating the device never moves them. If something looks wrong, double-tap the photo to reset the zoom and check again โ and please email us with your device model if it persists.
Where did my export go?
"Save to Photos" writes a new image into your photo library, in Recents. Your original photo is untouched and stays where it was. If saving fails, check that Blur Photo has permission to add photos in Settings โ Blur Photo โ Photos.
Can I get the original resolution?
Yes, with Premium. Free exports are limited to 2048 px on the long edge; Premium adds High (4096 px) and Original, which exports at the full resolution of your source photo. The aspect ratio is always preserved and nothing is cropped.
Does the exported photo still contain my location?
No. GPS data is removed from exported copies by default. Premium users can turn that off if they need the location kept.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings โ [your name] โ Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
I bought Premium but it isn't showing
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore purchases", making sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. If it still doesn't appear, email us and we'll help.
Is a blurred photo really safe to share?
The exported file has the covered pixels replaced, so the hidden detail is gone from that copy. Two things to check before sharing: make sure the blur or block size is strong enough that the shape underneath can't be read, and remember that a lightly pixelated block of text can sometimes be reconstructed. When in doubt, use a larger block size or a heavier blur.
